Denver, Colorado — On July 5, 2026, Denver police responded to a 911 call about a man harassing residents near East 51st Avenue and Washington Street. Wilson Guerra Bravo, 26, had prompted seven 911 calls since June 27 for repeatedly returning to the property, knocking on doors and looking through windows. Officers had previously warned him not to return.

Around noon, officers located Bravo carrying a knife. He fled on foot. Body camera footage released July 14 shows him turning and advancing toward the pursuing officer at East 50th Avenue and Washington Street while holding the weapon. The officer issued repeated commands to drop the knife and warnings before firing six shots. Bravo fell.
Officers recovered a 10-inch kitchen knife, provided first aid, and handcuffed him. He was transported to Denver Health Medical Center with gunshot wounds and remained hospitalized as of July 14. No other injuries or deaths were reported. Bravo faces charges of attempted murder of a peace officer.

The officer, who joined the Denver Police Department in 2024 with no prior shootings, was placed on administrative assignment.
