Bodycam footage released of officer-involved shooting in May in Fresno

Bodycam footage has been released for an officer-involved shooting that happened in May in Fresno.

The Fresno Police Department says 31-year-old Martin Campos was arrested following a violent confrontation with Fresno police that began with an armed disturbance and ended in a crash involving multiple vehicles.

According to a 911 call, Campos allegedly pistol-whipped his ex-girlfriend in the head in a parking lot.

The victim, who was bleeding and had her daughter in the car, drove away while Campos followed her in another vehicle.

During the pursuit on Highway 41, Campos reportedly crashed into the victim’s car and threatened to shoot her if she did not speak to him.

A Fresno Police Department sergeant intercepted the victim’s car, at which point Campos pulled up and fired a shot.

The sergeant returned fire, and a bullet struck the victim’s car, causing her to reverse into the sergeant’s patrol vehicle.

The sergeant then approached Campos, who drove away while the officer continued to fire.

Campos subsequently crashed into two civilian vehicles near the intersection of Jensen and Elm Avenues.

As Campos attempted to drive towards more traffic, the sergeant fired additional shots.

Campos was seen placing his hands out of the window and was arrested without being hit by gunfire.
