Jimmy Carter made one big decision in the final hours before Rosalynn’s death – and it’s heartbreaking… 💔
Rosalynn Carter and Jimmy Carter spent nearly their entire lives side by side. They first met as children in Plains, Georgia, married young, raised a family and eventually made their way to the White House. But their most heartbreaking chapter came decades later, when both were facing the end of their lives.

When Rosalynn entered hospice care in 2023, Jimmy was already there.
And during her final hours, he made a deeply personal decision — asking the rest of the family to leave the room so he could have some time alone with the woman he had loved for more than seven decades.
He sat beside her, held her hand and told her he loved her.
Later, the family’s hospice beds were moved next to one another so the longtime couple could still be together.
By the following morning, Rosalynn could no longer speak.
She died later that day at 96,
Her son Chip recalled the moment his father learned she was gone, saying, “Tears came out of his eyes.”
Jimmy’s words after her death were perhaps the most touching of all:
“Rosalynn was my equal partner in everything I ever accomplished.”
After 77 years of marriage, Jimmy Carter had lost the woman who always made him feel loved and supported.
At Rosalynn’s funeral, a deeply moving letter from Jimmy was read aloud, revealing just how much she meant to him.
“My darling, every time I have ever been away from you, I have been thrilled when I return to discover just how wonderful you are,” he wrote.
He ended the letter with heartbreaking simplicity:
“Goodbye, darling. Until tomorrow, Jimmy.”
Jimmy Carter passed away in December 2024, just 13 months after losing the love of his life. After 77 years together, it’s hard not to imagine that, wherever they are now, Jimmy and Rosalynn are finally together again. ❤️🙏
