Footage captured the shocking moment a California woman was slammed to the concrete ground by a police officer before biting the cop as he attempted to restrain her
Viral video footage captured the moment a California woman was slammed to the ground by a police officer, who she then bit, after allegedly making racist remarks.
Officers with the San Diego Police Department were called to Linda Vista Recreation Center at around 6pm on March 21 after receiving reports of a woman behaving aggressively toward people. Witnesses told officers that the woman, who has not been identified, was making racist comments, leaving adults and children at the site concerned, police said.
Responding officers located the woman at the skate park area, where police said she became confrontational once approached and refused to comply with officers’ commands.
The officer suddenly brings his other hand to the back of the woman’s neck and quickly slams her to the ground, coming to a kneeling position next to her.
A crowd gathered at the scene could be heard gasping as the woman made contact with the concrete floor. The woman’s body bounces from the impact as her sunglasses were flung from her head.
The officer quickly dragged her body around, positioning her chest to the ground before placing one knee on to her lower back. Another officer in the background could be heard telling the crowd to “stay back.”
As the officer attempted to restrain her, the woman began yelling: “Get the f— off me c—.” The officer then attempted to grab her hands from in front of her face to place handcuffs on her.
The officer quickly dragged her body around, positioning her chest to the ground before placing one knee on to her lower back. Another officer in the background could be heard telling the crowd to “stay back.”
As the officer attempted to restrain her, the woman began yelling: “Get the f— off me c—.” The officer then attempted to grab her hands from in front of her face to place handcuffs on her.
As he does so, the woman can be seen biting the officer’s hand. He pulled his hand away and told the woman, “Stop biting me!” before placing his hands on the back of her head.
The video ends as the woman is still face-down on the ground, screaming at the officer as he attempts to restrain her. The bite to the officer’s hand caused pain, swelling, and an abrasion, police said.
He was treated at a local hospital for his injuries. The woman was evaluated by paramedics at the scene as a precaution. No other injuries were reported.
The woman was arrested and booked into jail on multiple charges, including delaying or obstructing officers, resisting an officer with violence and committing a felony while out on bail.
Authorities are still investigating the incident.
