In the early morning hours of January 31, 2026, Walnut Creek Police officers responded to a report of a vehicle burglary in a residential neighborhood. Shortly after, officers spotted a vehicle fleeing the area at high speed and initiated a pursuit, which continued until the vehicle became disabled on Highway 13 in Oakland. Several suspects bailed out and ran, prompting a coordinated ground and air search involving Walnut Creek Police, the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office, and the California Highway Patrol. During the investigation, officers connected the group to additional vehicle burglaries from around the same timeframe. In total, four suspects were taken into custody. One adult was arrested on multiple charges, including vehicle burglary, possession of stolen property, evading, conspiracy, and resisting arrest. The remaining individuals were identified and released to responsible parties in accordance with department policy
