Hartford Police Officer Joseph Magnano fatally shot 55-year-old Steven Jones, who was holding a knife while experiencing a mental health crisis.
Magnano was arrested and charged with first-degree manslaughter, and the shooting was ruled a homicide by the inspector general
Prior to the shooting, other officers on the scene attempted to persuade Jones to drop the weapon
Outcome: Magnano was fired by the Hartford mayor shortly after the incident
