Officer Nathan Anderson’s body-worn camera shows the moment Bismarck Police Officer Matthew James was struck by a white SUV on March 7, 2025
The driver, 53-year-old Melanie Udell, was reported to be possibly under the influence before the incident in the 1100 block of 12th Street
Following the collision, Officer Anderson fired fatal shots at the vehicle to protect Officer James and bystanders
The Burleigh County State’s Attorney determined that Officer Anderson acted with sound judgment and did not file charges against him
